The Jared Scott Miller Library
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
In Edayanchavady, Tamil Nadu, India there is a tiny village with a population of 5,000. The children in this village now have access to the first ever English and Tamil language library in this area. The Jared Scott Miller Library is a central educational resource for children of all ages and their families living in the villages. While the current library is small and serves this village and its children, the plan is to create a larger library as a resource for all the surrounding villages.
The Jared Scott Miller Library is in memory of Jared Miller who tragically died in 2013, at age 34. His parents knew that they needed to find a way to memorialize him that would involve helping the children in Tamil Nadu, India. Jared loved the Tamil language, he loved books, and he loved working with children of all ages. Jared’s parents, with the help of Gabriel Project Mumbai and the special people at the New Colors Children Educational Center in Tamil Nadu, brought Jared’s interests and loves together in establishing this children’s library.
The New Colors Children Educational Center provides education for village children, sustainable community development and individual empowerment to the people of Tamil Nadu. Gabriel Project Mumbai together with New Colors, are proud to be able to create a permanent home for the library, to ensure that Jared’s life will be remembered in a way that brings joy and learning to children of all ages.
